Red Centre - Jour 1 (20/10/2009)

Lever...
Debout a 5h30 pour prendre une petite douche et profiter du petit dej gartuit pour le deuxieme matin! Une fois l'estomac rempli de pancakes, direction l'aeroport pour s'envoler vers Uluru!
We got up at 5:30 to have a quick shower and enjoy our free brekky (with heaps of pancakes) before going to the airport.

Uluru - The Base Walk - 10km:
Marche autour d'Uluru.
Il fait super chaud, environ 35 degres.... Et il n'y a pas d'ombre dans le Red Centre!
It's really really hot here! Around 35 degrees....

Le chemin pour monter sur Uluru. Uluru etant sacre pour les Aborigenes, ils demandent aux touristes de ne pas faire son ascension. Un chemin et une rampe on pourtant ete amenages et de tres nombreux touristes ne respectent pas la tradition. Le gouvernement n'interdit pas l'ascension mais la deconseille (la montee est longue et difficile et on decompte 35 morts depuis les annees 1960). L'etat pense que les touristes seraient moins nombreux a se deplacer si la montee etait interdite - Climbing path

Comme je le disais il faisait tres tres chaud.... Et j'avais oublie de prendre une casquette a la maison. Coup de chance, une casquette avait ete trouvee et deposee sur un poteau au depart de la marche! Par contre elle etait un peu cra cra et tres tres moche! - I forgot to take a cap at home. As I wrote earlier, it was really really hot there and there is no shade at all in the Red Centre. Thankfully, someone found a cap and left it hanging at the beginning of the walk. I stole it, even though it was quite dirty and ugly! O:)

Retour a l'hotel pour prendre une petite douche bien meritee!
We got back to the hotel to have a well deserved shower!

Dinner of Silence:
Depart pour le diner du silence! Un diner a la bougie en pleine nature avec coucher du soleil sur Uluru et superbe ciel etoile (jamais vu autant d'etoiles).
Sunset on Uluru, dinner with candles only and great view on the sky full of stars (I haven't seen that many stars before).
