I worked but left at around 4pm to go to the airport to fly to Sydney!!!!!

Arrivee a Sydney vers 18h30 ou je retrouve James qui a atterri le matin meme (parti du Pays de Galles).Apparemment les gens qui voulaient des super places ont carrement dormi sur le parvis de l'opera, et a 11h du matin tous les sites du CBD etaient deja pleins.... Bref, nous tentons notre chance dans le CBD pour voir le feu d'artifice 'familiale' a 21h. Entre les arbres, les gens et le feu qui est finalement tire assez bas on ne voit pas grand chose...
Direction Balmain; Lie Ming (un collegue qui est de Sydney) m'a conseillee d'aller a Balmain, un suburb pas tres loin du centre ville, au bord de la riviere.
I landed at 6:30pm, went straight away to my hotel in the CBD to leave my stuff and met up with a friend. He told me that people had been sleeping next to the opera house to have a good view and that all the Rocks and Circular Quay vantage points were full and closed by 11am.....
We tried to watch the family fireworks (at 9pm) from the streets in the Rocks but we didn't see much at all; heaps of people (starting to be quite drunk!) trees and all... :)
So we decided to listen to Tanguy's advice and to go to Balmain, a suburb close by.
La on decide de pas trop se prendre la tete et de prendre de notre temps, donc on dine tranquille dans un petit resto thai (pas terrible mais bon....).Vers 11h30, on arrive au bord de la riviere et on trouve une super place au premier rang pour voir le feu :)
We didn't really want to make a big fuss out of it and wanted to enjoy the night as well as trying to get a good spot for the fireworks that we might not see well anyway... So we took the time to have dinner (in a quite mediocre thai restaurant...)
At 11:30 we were seating on the river side with an awesome view of the river, the bridge and the city :)

J'ai bien vu le feu, j'ai pas fait la queue et je me suis pas faite ecrabouiller! Je pense bien recommencer l'annee prochaine!!!!!
Nous sommes restes feter ca a Balmain un peu apres le feu pour ne pas etre compresses dans le bus. Retour a Sydney CBD pour continuer la fete jusque vers 5h du matin.
Franchement, c'etait vraiment sympa. Bonne petite soiree :)
Anyway, I spent a really nice night, saw the fireworks really well and wasn't all squashed! We stayed out in Balmain until around 2am to avoid the rush in the buses going back to the city. We then went out in the CBD and finally to bed at around 5am :)
I had a really really good time, might do it again next year!
