Monday:
The hottest day of the summer until now: we reached 43 degrees during the day and it was still 41 degrees at 9:45pm... I wish I could have spent the day on the beach!
Mardi:
Agreablement surprise :)
Tuesday:
Night out in St Kilda: I tries the Stokehouse Downstairs (quite nicely surprised by the quality of the food) and went to the usual Prince Of Wales!
Mercredi:
Soiree super sympa :)
Wedensday:
Dinner at Dinesh's place. He cooked for me and I was quite amazed; chicken and mushroom soup followed by an enourmous and delicious steak.
I got a galette des rois (see this post for the explaination: http://marieamelbourne.blogspot.com/2009/09/ma-semaine-14-20092009.html).
If you want to try one, go to Cacao in St Kilda, it was really really good and authentic. It even came with a feve and a paper crown! They only make it in January to follow the French tradition though and you should call them the day before to order it.
Vendredi:
Friday:
I quickly went to the If bar to say goodbye to James (the If bartender) as he's moving to London quite soon.
I then got home and put the Mont D'Or I brought back from France in the oven... It is a delicious unpasteurised cheese. I ate is all O:) I can't describe how good it is.... So so love it :)
Here is good definition from wikipedia: it is a soft, rich, seasonal cheese contained in a grayish-yellow blanched rind. Made from cow's-milk in Switzerland or France, usually in villages of the Jura region (an origin that has been officially controlled since 1981), it typically contains 45 to 50 percent milk fat (in dry matter). It is marketed in round boxes of various diameters made of spruce. This cheese is made between August 15 and March 15, and is sold throughout France between September 10 and May 10.
Out of the fridge
After 15 to 20 minutes in the oven
Samedi:
Depart a 7h pour Gunnamatta Beach sur la Mornington Peninsula.
Saturday:
We left St Kilda at around 7am to go to Gunnamatta Beach on the Monrnington Peninsula.
Nice time on the beach to sun bath until around 3pm.
The weather changed and even my optimism didn't do anything for it!
We decided to go and check out the Cape Schanck Lighthouse. We didn't get in it or even really close to it as the National Park charges at least AUD15 for it...
But we did the Cape Schanck BoardWalk:
We like walking so we went for another walk that took us to the Bushrangers Bay:
Echidna
We then drove Kev to the Rye campsite.
That's quite a nice town with heaps of food options. We had an amazing dinner actually (with awesome deserts....)
Dimanche:
Sunday:
Brekky in Rye and walk on the Pier. This town is really pretty.
We drove back to Gunnamatta Beach to have a bit of a walk
Back to St Kilda quite early as the weather was just shocking...
