Up at 4:45 am to leave at 5am to see the sunrise on Angkor Wat!
I've been bitten so much by the mosquitoes that I look like I have measles.
Angkor Wat:
Angkor Wat est le plus grand des temples du complexe d'Angkor. Il fut construit par Suryavarman II au debut du XIIe siecle en tant que temple de son etat et capitale.
Angkor Wat is the biggest temple of Angkor complex, it was built for the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city.
Il est 5h30 du mat et elle est contente d'etre la!!! - 5:30am.. Not a good time for me....
Lever du soleil un peu rate, des nuages..... Je retourne a mon tuk tuk parce que mon chauffeur m'a dit qu'il valait mieux aller voir d'autres temples et revenir ensuite a Angkor Wat (a cause de la position du soleil). Je l'ai cherche, j'ai trouve le tuk tuk mais pas le chauffeur, donc retour a Angkor Wat! (Ouais, il etait un peu tout pourri mon chauffeur de tuk tuk... Il prenait son cafe...)Sunrise a bit disappointing, few clouds... Then, I went back to the car park as my tuk tuk driver said we should go to see other temples first and come back to Angkor Wat later on (to avoid the crowd and to have a better light). I found the tuk tuk but not my driver, he was gone for coffee... (My tuk tuk driver didn't reach my hopes!) So I'm back in Angkor Wat!

Angkor Thom etait la cite royale construite par Jayavarman VII, roi bouddhiste de l'Empire khmer, a la fin du XIIe siecle et au debut du XIIIe siecle. Son nom actuel, Angkor Thom, signifie 'la grande cite'.
Angkor Thom was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. It was established in the late twelfth century by king Jayavarman VII. It covers an area of 9 km².

Le Bayon est le temple central de l'ancienne ville d'Angkor Thom, capitale des souverains khmers au debut du XIIIe siècle. Bati par Jayavarman VII, sa decoration est concentree dans un périmètre d'environ 150 m de cote pour l'enceinte exterieure. Les tours à visages furent dédiées par le souverain au Bouddha dont il diffusa la doctrine.
C'est probablement l'un des temples que j'ai prefere pendant cette journee.

It's probably one of the temples I liked the most in Angkor.
Baphuon:
Baphuon fut construit vers 1060, sous le regne de Udayādityavarman II a la gloire de Shiva. Il fut un temps le temple d'etat.
Il se dressait au sommet d'une colline artificielle, mais avait pratiquement disparu avant d'etre dégagé et consolidé en plusieurs etapes de 1908 à 1918. Envahi par la vegetation, il est en restauration depuis 1995. Ce temple a la particularite d'avoir subi un profond remaniement (tres posterieur a sa construction — XVe siecle ?) dans sa structure pour constituer un gigantesque Bouddha allonge, au deuxième étage de la face Ouest.
Je jette un coup d'oeil au temple et j'entends un homme sur le chantier qui dit 'Putain qu'est ce qu'ils m'...' en Francais! Du coup je discute un peu avec lui, il s'avere qu'il est le chef de chantier et qu'il doit s'occuper de 150 ouvriers Khmers qui participent a la restauration! Bref, ca avait l'air difficile pour lui! Il m'a un peu explique les techniques de restauration, c'etait tres interessant. En gros, ils ont pas mal de pierres du temple mais tout etait par terre donc ils reconstruisent en beton arme et 'recollent' les pierres d'origine par dessus. Bref, c'est du boulot!!!!
The Baphuon was built in the mid-11th century by Udayadityavarman II in dedication to the Hindu God Shiva. It is the archetype of the Baphuon style. In the late 15th century, the Baphuon was converted to a Buddhist temple. A 9 meter tall by 70 meter long statue of a reclining Buddha was built on the west side's second level.
Since 1995, a team of French-led archeologists is attemptiong to restore the temple.
I was having a look at the temple when I heard a working guy saying something like 'F--k them all' in French. So I started talking to him! He was the boss of the restoration team (managing around 150 Khmers on his own...). He explained to me how they were working and stuff, it was really interesting :)

Terrace of Elephants:
La Terrasse des Éléphants s'étend sur 300 m de longueur et sa hauteur est de 3 à 5 m suivant les tronçons. Du haut de cette terrasse le roi Jayavarman VII regardait défiler son armée victorieuse de retour de la guerre contre les Chams.
The Terrace of the Elephants was used by Angkor's king Jayavarman VII as a platform from which to view his victorious returning army.

Il est 11h30, je mange une petite glace, parce que bon il fait chaud et que j'ai mange que des bananes pour le petit dej!
La j'explique a mon chauffeur de tuk tuk ou je veux aller et il est pas content du tout..... Il pensait juste m'amener dans un autre temple puis rentrer (ou m'amener je sais pas trop ou, ou j'aurais surement du payer une entree et il aurait touche un pourcentage...). Bref, j'insiste et il fini par m'amener a Preah Khan puis dans quelques autres temples apres beaucoup de soupirs.

It's now 11:30 and I'm starting to be really hot and a bit hungry (only had small and tasty bananas for brekky). So I get a little ice cream O:) I then explain to my tuk tuk driver where I want to go to and he's all unhappy cause he thought he would only take me to one last temple. After a long discussion and heaps of sighs he takes me where I want!

Bilan:
Apres 10h dans les temples je suis completement morte!!!! Ca m'a bien plu de me promener a Angkor. Mes temples preferes etaient Bayon, Ta Som et Ta Prohm. Je n'ai pas ete super impressionnee par Angkor Wat, c'etait sympa mais je pense que je ne l'ai pas apprecie autant que toutes les autres personnes avec qui j'en ai parle.
Il est 16h30, je rentre a l'hotel prendre une petite douche et faire une mini sieste.
Sum Up:
After 10 hours spent in the Angkor temples, I am totally knackered!!! I really enjoyed it though, my favourite temples were Bayon, Ta Som and Ta Prohm. I liked Angkor Wat but probably not as much as people who talked to me about it dids.
It's 4:30pm, I'm going back to the hotel to have a shower and a nap!
Preah Promreath Pagoda:
Vers 17h30, depart de l'hotel pour revenir a la pagode ou j'etais hier pour assister a la ceremonie de 18h :)
C'est un de mes moments preferes, pas de communication possible avec des mots mais les bhikkhus etaient adorables et interesses de me voir rester pendant toute la duree de la ceremonie :)
I left the guest house at around 5:30 to get to the padoga on time for the ceremony I missed the day earlier.
It was awesome, I loved it.
Meme les chiens du coin assistent a la ceremonie - Even the dogs from the area are invited to the ceremony!

Sarah devant me rejoindre a la guest house vers 20h, j'ai profite des 30 minutes que j'avais devant moi pour me faire faire un petit massage des pieds et des jambes :)
(Pour ceux qui ne savent pas, je connais Sarah depuis sa naissance puisqu'elle est la fille d'amis de longue date de maman. Elle est au Cambodge pour quelques semaines pour participer a une action humanitaire).

Sarah is the daughter of some of my Mum's old friends. She's French but she's in Cambodia for few weeks to do humanitarian work. She's staying with me at the guest house tonight but as I had a bit of time before she arrived, I went for a feet and legs massage :) Well deserved after 10h walking around the temples!
